SPORTSTRACK > PERSONAL USE
Clipped onto your handlebars or tucked into your rucksack, SportsTrack provides you with the reassurance that your exact position (2-10m) is plotted in real time onto the SportsTrack servers. This information is then accessible to anyone – with your permission – via the internet or through a mobile phone handset.
Simply put: your SportsTrack unit acquires GPS location data, stores it into memory before retransmitting that same data in real time via the GPRS mobile phone network – effectively a data call rather than a voice call - to the SportsTrack web servers. The data is then displayed in real time on Google Earth or Microsoft Virtual Earth through a password protected login to your own section of the SportsTrack website. Your exact location is refreshed to the website every 20, 60 or 120 seconds. You then have the comfort of knowing that should anything happen, your exact location and time are stored on the SportsTrack web site. This same data is also available through a small application running on most mobile phones and it is therefore not necessary that a person be beside a computer to know where you are.
In emergency mode, you can automatically send a pre-drafted emergency text to a pre-designated mobile number and the recipient can call you back to find out what your problem is before calling the emergency services. At the same time your exact location is still displayed on the SportsTrack website.
New for 2008: SportsTrack units come fitted with the ability to link into Polar Heart Rate monitors. The screen output then displays speed and heart rate information which will assist in your training regime.
Finally, all data collected - date, time, location, speed and heart rate - are sent to you automatically from The SportsTrack servers at 0001hrs every day immediately proceeding the day of its use. The package can then be analysed to compare your improvement in performance over previous trips.
